SPA
Cost is definitely a pull factor that attracts me to the spas in JB. Despite groupon and deals.sg having cheap deals, I personally am not a fan of having to utilize my coupon within a certain time frame. Neither do I have the patience to sit through a 1hr session of the sale manager trying to guilt trick me into buying a 10 session package. Thus, with their no strings attached policy, I prefer to get my monthly spa treatments in JB.
Reasons why I like the spas here
- They dont try to sell you packages
- They operate way past office hours. The spa I go to operates till 5am! This means we dont have to rush for an appointment right after work or after our dinner.
- They provide free Wifi while you're overseas
- The dont ask you questions like "Why do you have so many pimples" or "Why is your back so oily". They just do their job :)
- It is CHEAPER than in Singapore
Last Friday I headed back to Bangkok Spa after a tiring day of work. As we got into JB rather early, we decided to try the 1.5 hour massage. This cost one person RM75 which is approx SGD 32. This came with a cup of tea, a TV set to watch when you're seated faced up and massage clothes to change into. It was a full body massage and during the massage they would have warm towels to wipe the different parts of your body, including your feet.
I came out of the massage feeling recharged and rejuvenated for the week ahead.
The other services the place has includes:
1. Traditional Thai Massage
2. Thai Aromatherapy Massage
3. Sauna & Jacuzzi to soak in
4. Body scrubs
They also provide packages such as
Aromatherapy (60min) + Jacuzzi Spa (30min) + Sauna (30min) = SGD 48
Am so elated that they are just a causeway away :)
FOOD
So after a SPA session one wld usually feel hungry and thats when we head to one of the many 24hour food joints around the city.
Tried a 24hour coffee shop that sold lok lok(stick food) and local chinese delights.
I had barbequed chicken wings and squid on sticks, gong gong, vege with salted fish and black hokkien mee.
Prices were definitely cheaper than Sg's newton hawker centre or chompchomp.
CAR
After a satisfying supper, next on our agenda would be to satisfy the car's belly. We would usually head to a petrol station to get the car fed on some cheap petrol. After which, we would head to one of the many 24hour car wash shops to get the car cleaned.
Unlike Singapore, most of the car wash shops are usually stand alone shops that do not operate from a petrol station. Prices for a car wash averages RM 6 - 8 and they also do provide other services.
After both the car and people have been fed and pampered, we happily head back to the tiny island we call home. And this thus concludes my usual agenda of a relaxing chillax night out at JB.
Do cross the causeway to check out the wonders of JB for yourself :)
