After searching high and low for a bicycle to accompany M when he cycles, I've finally settled for a Tokyobike. It was love at first sight when I chanced upon the Tokyobike at M's colleague place. This post brings to you, a photo journal of the places along the Punggol Park Connector, which I usually frequent with my trusty Tokyobike.
This is the part of the Punggol Park Connector where I usually start my journey.
Outside Kampong Lorong Buangkok, the last remaining kampong in Singapore.
Cycling through this path frequently enables me to witness the rapid changes that takes place around the area. Just a few months back, these towering green buildings used to be a sea of black at night. In a blink of an eye, the residents of Fernvale Riverbow have moved in, and now square sheets of light, dot the buildings at night.
Crossing the bridge to the Sengkang Floating Wetland. A place where one can rest under mushroom shaped shelters and smell the bushes of fresh pandans.
If you need a break of all sorts - from a bio break to a water break, here's the place to stop at. There are toilets in this area, drink and food stores and even a bicycle shop. This is the Sengkang Sports Centre.
Continuing my cycling along Sengkang Riverside Park
The yellow barrier tells us that we are about to cycle under the Tampines Expressway.
After passing the Tampines Expressway, we ride past a rather forested stretch of the connector. This path is very scary at night but M likes it because it is a long flat stretch for cycling fast.
Greeted with this view after coming out of the forest stretch. And this is also the start of My Waterway@Punggol.
Art murals along the park connector
The park connector passes by many newly built BTOs and this includes the Waterway Terraces.
This is the upcoming mega mall at Punggol which is called Waterway Point. I heard that there will be an IMAX theatre, NTUC Finest and even a childcare centre for all the Punggol babies. Sounds like fun!
This river will probably be busy with boating activities in time to come.
There are a handful of bridges that help you connect to the other side of the river.
These bridges are also a fun way for the kids to run around.
Children frolicking under the hot sun. There is a toilet near this playground [Punggol Waterway Park] and hence it is very convenient to get your child changed here.
This open air pavilion is extremely popular for picnics. Come early to chop!
This is the stretch that leads up to the row of popular seafood restaurants at Punggol Settlement. Apart from being next to the sea, the other side of the path is heavily forested. The air here is extremely fresh at night and that is one of the reasons why we keep cycling back here.
