Kluang roadtrip

About an hour's drive away, this town in Malaysia evokes a laid back atmosphere and is perfect for those seeking a relaxing get away. Not as far as its bigger sister like Malacca, and less crowded than Johor Bahru, this town is an ideal stopover for some good Malaysian food and shopping.

After getting into the city, we headed for tea to the famous 'Kluang Rail Coffee'. The coffee here is freshly brewed and even a non-coffee drinker like me actually enjoyed their black dark coffee. I had my coffee with two slices of kaya toasts and two soft boiled eggs. The toast was sweet and crunchy. I loved that I could enjoy the soft boiled eggs by simply stirring the mixture with soya sauce and gulping it down in one mouthful.

After our tea time snack, we headed to the Kluang Mall for some grocery shopping. Due to the exchange rate, most of the items are cheaper than what I usually purchase back home. For me, I tend to stock up for my essentials at work such as milo packet drinks, some biscuits and slices of flavoured bread. Seeing that we still had time after our grocery shopping, we did a fair bit of shopping around the mall. I made a dash to SaSa to stock up on my beauty essentials such as buying a new eyeliner and more bottles of makeup remover. I was extremely pleased with my buys especially since the things are cheaper here :)

Dinner was at a Chinese restaurant where we tried out Kluang's famous salt baked Kampung Chicken. The chicken here is really the bomb. The texture is amazing. The meat is soft, chewy and oily. A far cry from the really dry chickens which I often have. Dessert consisted of durians as it was the durian season.

As with our normal routine in Malaysia, before we headed back to Singapore, we went for a one hour full body massage to relax our sore muscles. The drive back was a pleasant one as it was jam free all the way! Kluang is perfect for a quick day trip and we'll definitely make our way back here someday!
