Masumi Sake and Dining Experience (Nov 2014)

In collaboration with Haijapan.com and Liang Court, Masumi Sake, Japan’s most celebrated premium sake makers in Japan, are organizing an eight-day Masumi Dining Experience. At the anticipated affair, which will start on 17th November 2014, sake lovers get to enjoy the Karakuchi Kiippon and Karakuchi Gold sakes in food pairing sessions from participating outlets such as Kensai Kitchen, Okinawan Diner, Tanyoto, and Ikeikemaru.

Thanks to Rachel and Lester, I was privileged to be part of this media preview.

Mr Norum, the head of overseas operations at Miyasaka Brewing, shared about the four Masumi labels and recommended palatable food pairings from the Kensai Kitchen.

The first sake label which we tried was the Sanka. Translated as mountain flowers, its fresh aroma and elegant taste was paired with Gindara, a sweet and creamy Miso.

Our second sakae for the night, Nanago, was paired with Saba Mackerel, marinated with slightly sweet miso.

Our third sake, the Karakuchi Kiippon, one of the pillars of the Masumi brand, was light and fragrant. My personal favourite and it was paired with Tomrimomo – a sour and juicy chicken dish marinated in vinegar.

Last but definitely not the least, the Karakuchi Gold, with its clean, taste and mild aroma, was paired with Subuta, a sweet and sour pork collar dish.

Our lovely hosts also treated us to a wide array of other food, which paired well with all our sakes, courtesy of Kensai Kitchen.

So what are you waiting for ? Head down to Liang Court from 17th November and check out Kensai Kitchen, Okinawan Diner, Tanyoto, or Ikeikemaru for their awesome sakes and delicious food pairings!
