Singaporean girl in Italy (1)

Tuscany day tour itinerary

1) Roaming around San Gimignano
Our tour bus left the heart of Florence and headed for our first stop, a world UNESCO heritage site, the  city of San Gimignano.
As the city is situated on an enchanting hilltop, the walk up provides scenic views of the majestic greenery.
The picturesque streets exudes a medieval view.
The flags and old buildings somewhat reminds me of Harry Potter.
Among the many shops nestled along the alleys and squares, this Gelato shop stands out for winning the Gelato World Champion from 2006 - 2009. I tried their Melon Gelato and I reckon they are good for a simple reason; they are generous with the quantity of real fruits used. There was not a tinge of artificial flavouring in my Gelato. Instead, it felt as if I was biting into soft icy melons.

Address
Gelateria Dondoli
Piazza della Cisterna, 453037 San GimignanoItaly

2) Tuscan lunch with wine tasting
Our 2nd stop of the tour saw me smiling happily during the wine tasting session.
Our wine tasting session happened at a family owned vineyard with a lovely swimming pool.
They do let out their rooms during the Summer season and the packages comes with the usage of their private pool. cool huh!

3) Roaming around Siena
The 3rd and final stop saw us roaming around the streets of another old town called Siena.
We stopped by the church, bought expensive cappuccino to enjoy the view of the main square but also managed to get some cheap souvenirs in the form of 5 Euros Limoncello.

Tour Verdict
The tour is 2/3 visiting old historic cities and 1/3 wine tasting. We were allowed to roam the cities on our own as our tour guide made use of the time in the bus to educate us on the history of the cities. During the visit to the vineyard, we were not only allowed to taste different types of wine but were also lucky enough to be taken on a tour of the wine making process.
