Ichiban Boshi - Centrepoint
♥ A quiet dinner date at Ichiban Boshi,Centrepoint ♥
I have tried other Ichiban Boshi outlets at Toa Payoh and Ang Mo Kio. Unfortunately, the queues are always snaking long at those outlets. Was therefore pleasantly surprised that this particular outlet had no queue and the environment was quiet enough for a good catch-up session.
Hokkaido Kani Shio Tonkatsu Ramen
$18.90
Being a ramen fan, this dish looked really eye catching with its gigantic seaweed and crab claw that hung out of the bowl. However, if you are one who is particular about the texture of your ramen and soup base, for a similar price, it would be better to head to a restaurant that specializes in Ramen.
Gyu Steak Gozen Set
$25.90
I am so gonna rave about this gozen set. The beef was extremely succulent and tasty!!! If you are going to order anything at Ichiban Boshi, this is one set dish you should order. The entire set comes with a bowl of chawanmushi, miso soup, a slice of tofu, slices of salmon and chicken, and two slices of watermelon. Well worth your $25.90 (:
Amaebi Karaage
$5.90
Had these crispy sweet prawns as our appetizers and it was so fun having a mini chewing battle. If you are a fan of fried crispy stuff, this is certainly a good appetizer to have.

My 1st Omakase at AOKI
Tasted my first omakase by pure coincidence. Ok, the AOKI restaurant venue was planned. It was to celebrate a close friend's bday. Having shared buckets of joy and tears together, I agreed to this restaurant on account of our friendship which dates back to 2000. After flipping through the menu, my stomach was nudging me to order a wide variety of food. Despite the hefty price tag, the brain said, hack la! you're only here once. So on the spur of the moment, I ordered my first omakase.
"Customers ordering omakase style expect the chef to be innovative and surprising in the selection of dishes, and the meal can be likened to an artistic performance by the chef.Ordering omakase can be a gamble; however, the customer typically receives the highest-quality fish in stock at a less expensive cost than if it had been ordered à la carte."
Went home extremely satisfied at the variety of food tasted for the night!
Maybe I'll drag the bf here when I get my next bday treat. Heheheh.
What my friends had...
We dined at the table seats and had our little cabin to ourselves
Given our private corner, it was indeed a good setting for juicy updates and gossiping
I <3 my girlfriends. Grew up with them and will forever be indebted to them!

Gyu Kaku - Japanese beef in Singapore
Turning one year older, I decided to treat myself to good quality Japanese beef. I bugged the bf to bring me down to Gyu Kaku as I had heard lots of raves about the standard of their beef. I knew we could not be stingy on good quality beef and so I told the bf to be open to try anything, even if it wld hurt our wallets (just for my special night, I deserve the best right :P).
Well, if your still going to pay $10 for a plate of beef, I think you're better off at any other steak restaurant. Hence we took a gamble and went by the recommendations of our friendly waiter. He gave such impeccable service that we actually bothered to fill up the survey form to commend on his service!
Now here's introducing our plates of food before they were brought to the grill.
(Yes, you need to cook the food yourself!)
Our 300g of Ito-wagyu beef which cost $128++ per plate
The 600g plate costs $248++ per plate
We ate this slab of meat as our mains
Our 2nd slab of mains was the Wagyu Nakaochi
This cost $20.90 for a small plate.
Our third plate was the prime Wagyu Karubi (Wagyu Oyseter Blade)
It cost us $25.90++ for the small plate.
I must say after all the cooking, the beef we chose literally melted in our mouths with its flavour and juiciness.
Of course, apart from the mains, we also had appetizers and drinks to pair the beef with.
Our bacon and sausage appetizer.
Freshly brewed Asahi beer from the tap which went really well with the beef!
This restaurant does not sting on quality and that even extends to the beer. I have drank numerous Asahi beers from the can and nothing tasted as good as this one which came from the tap.
In conclusion...
If you're game to pay for high quality beef and to cook it yourself, Gyu Kaku is an option to try.
They have a few outlets and the one I tried was at UE Square.
We managed to get our own "booth" which added to privacy and made my birthday celebration even more special and memorable.
